Hey KoO,
When I saw the screw machine I thought that it may have been built by Emmitt Tucker Sr. I have seen a single screw machine that he built which was one of if not the first snowmoble. His son told me that it had problems like on ice it would only go sideways. Sr. scapped this princible and developed the steel pontoon design that was the world standard for many years. Tese machines were 3/4 and 1/2 PSI. These machines were used on the first trans Antarctic crossing lead by Hillary.

"These machines were used on the first trans Antarctic crossing lead by Hillary."
Was this before or after she was named after Sir Edmund?

Art,
Sorry for not using the full Sir Edmund Hillary and Sir Vivian Fuchs in my referance. I figure if the individual to whom you refer were included in the crossing, that individual probably would not have returned. But that was in the mid to late '50's.
