Went to the ATHS Truck show in Hutchinson today and took a few pics. I think 275 in all. What a show and a lot of very beautiful trucks. I saw this on the back of a sleeper just as I was Leaving and thought it was appropriate. Here is a link to the pictures I took. Like I say there should be 275 of them in this file, you can watch them as a slide show or individual thumbnails if you prefer. There are some duplicates and I'm sure some trucks I missed. I think there is even a picture of the floor and one of the brick sidewalk.

Thanks for posting the pic's. Loved the photo of the 1/2 ton Dodge Military WC 4x4 Pick-up. I have an Identical one; just a later series production run minus the OD color. They are great little trucks.

Thanks for the photos. A very enjoyable slide show. My friend Orrin Stevens was there, although his truck was not. GWH

GWH, I talked to Orrin yesterday morning on the phone. They were going out to breakfast and then coming to the show. I guess we missed connections, I didn't see him there. Maybe cause he saw me first.
Swishy,
Cummins KTA450, I think they are 1150 cubic inches, 450 hp
Yes torsion bars, I've never seen them on a trailer before, two for the front axle and two for the rear
I've heard of this set up, but had never seen one. There are big pulleys mounted between the wheels that the belts run in. Probably not for real heavy torque, but maybe just enough on slick roads.
GMC V12 one block, 4 heads, two intakes and two carburetors, don't remember if one or two distributors. Sweet sound though.
OUCH!!!
Sorry, got flustered again. She was a fair skinned maiden though.

Regarding that stainless Fruehauf with the torsion bars, there is one just like it half-buried at my yard, I use it for a parts/oil shed. From what I can see of the suspension, it is the most complex I have seen on a trailer, with big hinges and links. Looks really heavy, too. I always wondered what the point was of that engineering marvel in that application. The box is real stout, too, I've never seen so many spot welds. The back doors look exactly the ones in the pics, wonder why they are not as strong as the rest of it.
At the ATHS show here at March AFB a couple years ago a guy had cleaned up and mounted the original factory transmission above the frame when he replaced it. It was maufactured from two automatic GM Hydramatics, stacked on top of each other and connected by big aluminum gear boxes at each end. Apparently the power went thru both at the same time but by the way it was split gave a lot of ratio choices. Proved a bit unreliable for some reason. :-/ Anyway, seems like the perfect pairing (pun?) for that twin GMC. Dual Duals?

Just an afterthought, if anyone has a real slow connection and those pictures wont load send me an email or pm with your name and address. I have a few Cd's left I could burn the pictures on and mail them to you.
