I found what appears to be a Cat D25U in really good shape but being a novice as to what to look for I would appreciate any advice. I have some mechanical abilities but not with steel track equipment.

Im sure not an expert on a cat or a D2 but I purchased a D25U ser # 2214. its been a good learing experience for me... Had to work over the turning clutches and replaced some bearings.. A pretty good job for a small shade tree Mechanic... Had heard they could be soaked with different solvents etc and rockin it bach and forth would break the clutches apart..Just no way on mine... Just came down to some good ole hard work, Wish you luck,

Cysco--most important is the undercarriage condition--check rail hight, pin and bushing wear, sprocket teeth wear, roller and idler wear and also the shaft and bushing wear on the rollers and idlers---these parts are scarse and somewhat expensive.
