i have seen someone heat the housing with a tourch to remove a shaft, and they put the shaft in a deep freeze for a couple days before they installed it, does anyone else have a better idea. I am not to keen on heating a cast housing!

The shaft I am talking about is the pivot shaft that the track rails work off of, mine is bent on one side.

that is bolted to the chassis? I haven't studied the underneath in great detail yet.

Once the track frames are off the shaft there are two caps that bolt to the bottom of the tractor that hold the shaft on. Each cap has four nuts holding it on. One cap should have a big dowel under it that also goes into the shaft to keep the shaft postioned. Once the caps are removed the shaft should come out. A couple I have had to tap with a hammer to remove from the bottom of the tractor but it usually doesn't take much.
