I have a d8h s/n 46A 1646. It has a cable blade, blade or winch have no plates or casting to identify who the manufacturer is.

The winch clutch is slipping I need parts for winch but I first need to figure out what brand it is.

Winch is a two spool winch with spools sticking out back instead of cross ways. The winch cover has a half-moon slot in it at the back.

Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks

If one drum is used for the blade, a better description of this would be a cable control unit. If so, there really isn't but one of these that would be mounted on this D8. Consider taking a picture and showing it to someone in the parts department at Thompson Machinery in Columbus 662 327-3083 or Greenwood 662 453-5233. Make sure and bring the tractor serial number, they've always been helpful to me. Good luck.

It'll be a CAT winch and on an older tractor I would say it surely would be a #25, but could certainly be a newer model and you will need a serial number anyway to be certain to get the right parts.

When you say the clutch is slipping, will it raise the dozer if you pull hard enough on the lever? Or does the dozer fall when you release the lever?

adjusting will help both problems.

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

If the drums are sticking out the back that would be a #128 ccu serial number 18F1-up (double drum)
The serial number tag should be near the top of the right hand drum housing.

Send me a private message with your email address.
I have the Operations and Parts Manual for the #128 ccu.
The regular email is required to send attachments.

That will be a 128/129 cable control, the early ones had hydraulically boosted controls, recognised by a hydraulic pup and pipes on the top right side, Most were converted to manual control. If you can post a picture we can confirm what it is and I may still have the adjustmnet procedures in an old service magazine. Just be warned, don't even try and make any adjustments with the engine running, these things bite the unwary.

Hi catsilver,
We have the model defined and yes it is manual control
I forwarded the adjustment procedures but they are for the hydraulic assist units.
Question is.......are the adjustment procedures any different for the manual units?

Hi SJ,

There isn't much difference in the procedures apart from the early brake spring tensioner was a chain! I will scan in and post my old product bulletin overr the next couple of days for future reference.

I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
