The one I have was the twin to yours, Same pump, and electrical, but by the time I got it the generator, starter and battery box had been taken, just the brackets left. on mine the undercarrage is near new, everything functions well, but the engine is tired, it starts and runs ok but there is so much unburnt fuel, it's just unpleasant to run, I think it's just low compression.

Hi Team,
Service Magazine scans below should answer this query.
SP, Special Parts. SPC-G Special Gearing.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

That appears to be an old designation using SPC-G. I was under the impression that later versions just used the designation SP that might indicate different gearing and even later a separate tag was added for gear designations. What does the "C" stand for?

I have a R5 did not know which way to hook the battery. So I went to my expert and he told negative ground on all these machines.

Thanks everyone. I am baffled though, if grounded wrong I would suspect either damage to starter motor or possibly reverse rotation? I have always used negative as a ground, with the exception of my Minneapolis Moline tractor.....

very interesting i know My Euclid is also positive ground. with them i think it had to do with the application. as them D.D motors where made like Lego with more than one mounting place so as to get the right rotation of the starter. if it dose have different gearing that could be why it seemed to have more H.P. i think OIH had a D2 with different gearing too i can't remember if it was faster or slower.

Hi, Old Magnet.
Please correct me if I am wrong. My understanding is that the ground to the body/frame of the machine is simply to eliminate the need for wires coming to the 'ground' terminal on the battery from every individual electrical item.
I have been led to believe that the current still flows positive to negative, no matter which way it is 'grounded'. If the positive terminal is 'grounded', it only means that the whole unit is 'alive' and the switch for each electrical item simply opens the circuit on that item for the electricity to flow back to the battery, thus activating that item.
Or have I been led astray all these years?
A kew-ree-yuss mind would like to know.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
