I have been contacted though a land owner who has cleared off a piece of property he has and found what I believe from the pictures to be a cat 12 grader. form the best we can come up with it has been sitting in this spot since the mid 80's when the area was first developed into a golf course. I work on farm equipment and tractors on the side and that is how he got a hold on me. I have not seen the grader in person yet but the offer was made to me that if I can get it off the property I can have it at no charge so of course its gotten my attention. I plan on going out to it the end of this week and looking it over and maybe trying to get it to turn over if its not locked up. is there any advice that could be given on on top things to look for on these? starting sequence for the pony motor to starting the main engine? what is the value of some of something like and possible if you would know the year it could be. thanks in advance - Keith.

With the open stacks engine,s will be rusted tight....WA7OPY
I'm sure it will be locked down tight but it is located only about 15 miles from me so it is worth the drive to at least check it out. Who knows why it was abandoned when it was all the land owner could say about it was he knows nothing about it he his an investor has no knowledge of equipment.

Looks like a "Galion" brand name in the one picture.
I not sure if that is a manufacture branding or possibly the name of the contractor who owned it since it looks to be painted on it. I will know more when I actually lay eyes on it.

yep it's a Galion. probably has a Detroit in it,it will start probably but better have some either. make sure you have a block of wood to cover the intake incase it runs away.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure i just had those two pictures to go off and a cat 12 was the closest thing i found to compare it too.

Hydraulic ram on scarifies. Definitely not a cat 12. Galions were junk. To get 10,000 hrs on a 1967 Cat 12, just change the oils. To get 10,000 hrs on a 1967 Galion, spend about 100,000 in parts and repair if you are dumb enough to keep the damn thing. Sorry to be so critical.
