Off Topic - Data Plates

This plate was photographed on winch, mounted on Caterpillar Sixty.

I have noticed a Willamette Iron and Steel Data Plate on a telescope, Kitt Peak National Observatory. Additionally there is a Willamette Steam Locomotive at RailRoad Park, Dunsmuir, Ca.
Willamette played a big part in logging operations, ceased operations in 1990.

Interesting to find the various companies associated with Caterpillar -

Willamette became Willamette Ersted in 1929. Later becoming Willamette Hyster. Finally in 1944 after all the big steam was gone and the Willamette name had no cachet it morphed into just Hyster. Willamette built the slewing gears at Kitt Peak. Hyster did make a steel tower for a while using Willamette drumsets in the early 60s.

I'm not afraid of hard work; I can lay down beside it anytime and take a nap.

Photograph taken at Santa Margarita 2017

My Grandfather bought Bean Track Pull (new) in 1917, sadly junked in 1949 due to broken bull gear housing. I have the original Bosch Magneto from it, still hot!

Santa Margarita 2017 -

Hope everyone enjoys the plates - Sometimes the "details" are lost in the "big picture".

As one of our members pointed out -- We often overlook what makes the entire show - be it photographs, events or equipment - all are nothing without the people!
Hope to see everyone at Santa Margarita - 2018
