I spent two days digging out 3J1 and making room around it so I can work on it. I know the time has come to do a restoration of 3J1. I will post more as I take it down. Bill

I'm looking forward to following along on this one. This is really a historic machine and I know with you, it'll be done right.

Hey Bill,
Wow, looks like 3J1 was used near the coast.
. A lot of loose juice etc is going to be used I would guess. Did it come with the lighting set up? Good luck on the restoration and if you ever need a hand, I would be happy to come down and help.
. My 3J is only 4102 down from it’s older brother.

Mr. 3J1Bill, if you can package the motivation you found for that project, I will buy a box !
That will be quite an accomplishment - can't beat that serial number !

I have never worked on a tractor so worn from heavy use that the non master pins can be driven out with a blacksmith punch. Bill

The track pads look like they have some life left in them. The track pins on my RD4 were all tack welded on both sides, even the master pins 🤤

A picture of 80 year old Jimmy Colean who helped assemble 3J1 in 1938. He gives me motivation to dive into this project.

Wonder if there is any link to Colean, that is the manufacturer who originally built the building that Holt bought for the Peoria operation?
