you could also treat the RCA with calcium or sodium chloride in the summer to keep the dust down---we used that to increase the moisture content of soils up to optimum for compaction tests while keeping the dust down at the same time

That call it " recycled road base" near me, a lot cheaper than "virgin" road base or real DG.

I had some success with putting sand over the recycled stuff, that helps to keep the dust down.

I wanted to say that so bad, but I restrained. When I first saw the thread title, and California, my mind went a whole 'nuther direction, never thought of dirt work...
I'm not afraid of hard work; I can lay down beside it anytime and take a nap.
