What model 212?
Isn't there a hole there in the flywheel housing already with a 3 bolt cover?, If so it will fit perfectly, you just need the correct starter drive and nose to make the solenoid point in the desired direction.

www.acmoc.org/ACMOC_BB/showthread.php?t=...ect+start+conversion There's a link in there and some good pictures of the process. I understand most of the imageshak site Swishy and OM put up is back up after a short absence.

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

CC, many of the older bell housings had the casting imprint for a starter to go but they were not machined out so that,s probably what he has.
