A week ago my 7U was running like a Swiss watch. Then, two days later the diesel would not start. There was fuel to the lines on top of the injection pump and fuel out of the bleeder line fron the filters. During cranking with the pony the fuel pressure gauge was only barely in the white. We looked at the fuel and it was rusty/dirty/brown so we drained and flushed the tank, drained and flushed the filter housing and replaced the filter elements and refilled the housing and put about five gallons in the tank. With the help of a little ether it started but only ran long enough to drain the filter housing.
The diesel has been overhauled, the nozzles replaced and the injection pump gone through by CAT.
I'm suspicious of a weak transfer pump, but is there anything else to look for?
If the pump is bad is there a rebuild kit available?
Thanks.
Mike

With the fuel that dirty, it might have screwed up the transfer pump, or even broken/ sheared the pump drive. Or, maybe there's enough junk in the pressure relief valve where the incoming line goes into that block on the pump that it's just not building pressure. That's a real common problem and should be checked. Another thing, I'd double check to make sure no one turned the valve off at the tank. It's gonna be a case of start at the tank and check everything between there and the filter tower if you're not getting fuel.

Mike,
I had a similar problem when I first moved my 9U & No 60 Scraper on a low loader, the tractor had to climb up the raised neck on the low loader trailer at an angle of 30 degrees to allow the scraper to fit.
When I unloaded the tractor, the engine cut out and despite repeated bleeding it wouldn't run. It transpired the transfer pump was blocked full of silt, I had to take it apart (you may need to obtain a new gasket) and flush out the silt and refit it. Afterwards it worked fine.

Thanks Guys for the response. First, I'll put more fuel in the tank and try it again. If that doesn't work I'll start at the tank and work forward.
