this is a pic of the lift cylinder upper pivot. is there a bushing that will take up all the slack in the pin joint area? i know there is what looks like a wear bushing already there but it sure is sloopy. will i have to weld up the pins on the support members? thanks

Should be bearings on the cylinder trunion and bearings in the yoke.

For the D6C of the 1960s vintage, Cat used a crankshaft or connecting rod bearing insert for that purpose. That is what I used in my "6" after we had to build the ram ears back to a standard size.

Funny how they never see that grease fitting and let things just wear out. Oh well, like the old Caterpillar film "It's Up To You"

The blade s/n would be helpful.

That cylinder trunnion is shot! it wont hold a new bearing. The thick bearing is supposed to be pressed or shrunk on.

Usual place for the s/n is the right hand upper rear side of the mold board. If no tag look for rivet holes and scratch around in the paint. Number is often stamped there.
Most likely a 28Exxxx straight blade or 29Exxxx angle blade. Early cylinders did not have bushings on the cylinder trunion, later ones did.
Yoke bearings are a 3J2217 (8 required)
Yoke bearings were only used in early cylinders so it looks like your lift cylinder trunions do not have the later bearings.

I think that bearing that is missing is a 5J 1192, in classic parts a 374-8355.

My parts book shows a 3J2189 lift cylinder in type 1, 2, 3, and 4 without trunion bearings before you get to a 5J1243 lift cylinder with the 5J1192 trunion bearings.
