I have no real need for a d6 but if present plans don't work out it's not out of the question.
This is a unit for sale I'm considering.
Feel free to sling mud as you please, what do you see?
The grousers look good to me.
The pins don't look to have been turned.?
There is a noticeable ridge on the top roller outside.
The links have wear at the pins, sloped off at an angle. What causes that? bottom rollers? guards? what are they rubbing against?
How much more adjustment would you say they have before the end of travel is reached?
thanks

My guess, there is a reasonable amount of internal pin and bush wear, bottom rollers are well worn, sprockets starting to show wear, good rail height and grousers are reasonable. Maybe needs a pin and bush turn and new bottom rollers.

You don't show it, but is there any track frame sticking out in front of the front of the idler bearing/support blocks? There is also a max dimension spec of 8.25 inches between the front of the adjuster rod guide bracket and the rear of the idler yoke where the clamp bolts are. This limits extension of the track adjuster screw so there are not too few threads engaged and they strip. In many cases, the threads that have been exposed to dirt and moisture in front of the spring guide/nut for many years are rusted away and if you screw the adjuster in to reconnect a track after a pin and bushing turn or after cutting out a link, the threads strip anyway. New aftermarket adjusters are about $100 I think and it is worth replacing them before the "nut" is damaged too.
What is the height of the rails? Wear into pin bosses can be from worn rails and/or worn bottom rollers. I have seen lots worse than that, but that will soon prevent a pin and bushing turn if one is even still worth doing (sufficient hardened rail material left to last long enough to pay for the turn).
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D
