I know this is a Cat forum, but this was too good of a find not to post. Way back in the boonies on an old mining claim. 1922 Waukesha engine.

Very nice! Is it set up as a shovel or a dragline or what?

Do claims like that revert back to the government at some point or do the operators retain ownership? Who owns the machinery in cases like that?

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

As I observe from pictures,

Shovel would have a dipper stick, This has a lattice type boom. Boom appears to have been used for logs as it is protected on bottom side.

This machine appears to have a fairlead, suggesting it could be used with a Drag bucket and any other use as with crane. Dragline would require a fairlead.

Hi, Scott Kuehn.
Very nice, Thanks for sharing. I was impressed by the condition of the wire ropes for a machine that appears to have been standing for quite a while.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Good point Dees. The drum is not rusted at the eff side either. Recently been rotated? Cool rig.
