Take a look at the pictures that Willie just posted on the 2008 Best Show on Tracks thread at the top of the page. Details and explanation are in that thread

Very impressive. It looks just like the Holt on the cover of Jack Alexander's 2005 book The Caterpillar's Roots: the History of the Best and Holt Tractors. I can't imagine spending the time and money to build it. GWH

Don just continues to amaze me at the craftsmanship he demonstrates making this from spec-prints, Cat archive photos, and some interpretation, he generates a fabulous reproduction Holt Steamer. Don is a man of skills which represent a breed that is too far to be found too infrequently.

WoW, what a beautiful restoration!
I met Don in Paso Robles and he gave Chris and I some advise. "quit messing around with "D" series cats. Thats not were the money is." I replied "I can afford a $3,500 "D" series cat but I can't afford a $25,000-$250,000 Holt" Then he tried to sell me a disassembled Holt 45. I guess thats what separates the men from the boys:rolleyes:

Some collectors collect for investment, some collectors collect only what they like, and some collectors collect things that can be used daily. To some collectors, price is no obstacle. I collect things that I enjoy working on and that I can still use daily. What ever turns your crank is what you should collect. My hat is off to Don on his fine recreation of his steam powered Holt.
