I have two pipes that need re-tubing. I found a good material supplier called stock car steel located in Mooresville NC. They have a vast selection of tube and other steel. I used 1 3/8" x .065 4130 Dom tube. A bit of channel served as a fixture to hold the tube in alignment with the cast elbow for tacking. I brazed the joint with bronze using the tig torch. I had to make a few small corrections in the angle by re-heating sections of the joint, checking alignment by clamping the flange to the table of the band saw. I plan on finishing with a light abrasive blast and silver VHT paint.

Very nice Stephen, when I redid the inner tube on my RD7 intake, I had no luck finding 1 3/8 tube. So i used 1 1/2 instead, then bored out the holes in the manifold. Seems to have worked. Of course no one can see it in there. Lol
BP.

No flux, I have a box of bare rods, shipyard surplus. I will see if it is marked. It seems to wet out fine. I have been using it to hold split bronze bearing shells together for turning on the lathe. The original pipes had a non ferrous filler, I have seen some where the pipe was rotted off but the filler was still there.
--- both pipes(Diesel 50 & D8800) agreed on the length of 23" so I believe that is an original length. If anyone is needing that data.----
