Having a hell of a time with this. Raised the starter, engaged the pinion, took the governor cover off, took the clutch cover off, I can get the whole assembly out to the point that if I could achieve a sixteenth of an inch more I would be able to get it past the governor. The barring in the middle of the clutch/pinion shaft has broke on the race, which is the reason for removol. I have also removed the inspection plate below the main pistons. Still I can't get clearance.
Anyone ever dealt with this and have a success story? any ideas hints would be greatly appreciated Thanks

Try rotating the pinion so the latch dogs are not interfering with that last 1/16 in. Fit is tight but does work for removal. You've covered all the normal stuff.
Patience;)

I'm trying to have patience. It just doesn't seem that I can get any more rotation out of this thing. It sounds like you have some experience with this procedure. I don't know if you'd be available to take a look at it. I'm located in soquel.
