Hey Guys,
I just registered with the ACMOC yesterday in hopes that I can get some information from you guys. I inherited a D4 from my fiance's grandfather. S/N# 6U246. I was trying to find out if there is a way to determine which dealer sold the machine originally and who the original owner was. I am just trying to find some background information out as the tractor has sentimental value to her family and I am going to start a restoration project on it next year. I am also wondering about the blade on it. It has a hydraulic blade with a front mount pump on it, did CAT make the blades for these old D4's or is this an aftermarket blade. Any information you can provide would be great.
Thanks,
Tom

Cat made most their blades that were on the tractors in that era but I,m sure there was some aftermarket blades sold then. See if you can come up with some names or numbers on the blade & pump. I,d kind of think you have a Cat blade & they had a 44 hyd. pump on them and a 4A & 4S blade.Maybe if you had a picture to post would hep.

CAT also sold D4's with Bros dozers during the Korean war. The Bros dozer blades have hydraulic cylinders mounted on a 45 degree angle. The CAT dozers usually had horizontal mounted cylinders.

Thanks for the information. I will have to drive to the farm and take some pictures for you guys. Still looking for some information that might point me towards the original owner and selling dealer. I work for Fabick CAT in Columbia, MO but nobody at the dealership knows how to track the records on a machine this old. Thanks, Tom
