This is a late model D2 #5U17904 that my father and I are rebuilding. It started out as a bucketloader but we decided to turn it into a buldozer. My parents live in northern Maine and my father is planing to use it mostly for doing fierwood, a little logging, and road building. When I picked it up at an auction it had shot clutches and an axle shaft snaped off at the steering clutch. At this point of the reabiuld we have used pieces and parts from fore or five other machines and instaled a new drive clutch, new brass steering clutches, and new brake pads.

My father is going to be down for the Christmas week and we are going to try to get it to the point whare we can run it around. If we're lucky we may start working on the buldozer blade.

I'll try to post some pictures as we go along.

Close serial #s. I've got 5U 18019, plus a parts tractor that is mid 17,000? (both are 1956 models).

GWH has a serial # close to the 18019, but can't remember his right now (1957 model I believe).

Need to be following in your foot steps----right now they remain in "accumulated status"

If you guys need a blade, I have a Cat 2A for a late model D2 with the longer push arms.

Hay B4D2. I would be interested in seeing some pictures of you blade. I was planing on taking two blades that we have and splicing them to get the longer push arms but if yours would go right on this machine it would save us a couple days of fabricating. Probably the bigest problem would be transportation. I asume that the blade is in Chacago?

Here are a few pics. I have the trunion mounts and hydraulic cylinders as well. Let me know what you think.

B4D2, after the blizzard we have experienced here in Denver, I've been thinking it would be good to have a blade on my D2 so I could plow snow in the neighborhood. If D2Vermont does not purchase the blade, perhaps you have another potential purchaser. D2Vermont responded first. I enjoyed the photo D2Vermont posted. Sounds like quite a project. GWH

D2VERMONT:

The pusharms and moldboard assembly are identical for the early and late D2 blade. The structure that mounts to the roller frame is different; the trunnions are mounted further forward on the late D2 set up.

B4D2 thank you for the picts. I gess we are going to just use what we have heer. It looks like you may have it sold yet.

My father wants a solid blade. The six way blades can get a bit floppy. Also the blade you can see in the picture is narower than the six way blades which will be nice for looging. It'll be a fun fabrication.

I better go back at it times a wasting.
