On a service call to a remote camp I got held up by a Rig move. Twice this has happened to me! Headed to the same camp. You would think something this big would plant them and drill! But No they are flying all around the place! Pain In the butt because they have the right of way. But with the 3 hr I spent waiting for the road to open, I got caught up on my service reports. (Spell that Nap). The Beast only move 3 miles an hr. and this one is Cat powered. Threw in a pic of the Northern lights we had on Valentines Day night

What more can you say? Most of us people in the states have never seen anything like that!

Nice pics! reminds me of when I worked up at Prudhoe Bay in the mid seventies. One day my boss asked me if I wanted to do the bus run to the bank at the airport. This involved driving a bus to the airport from our camp which was about 6 miles away...hauling anybody who had business at the airport and then bringing them back.
Well that evening the temp was 30 below and as I left camp with a bus load of people I was having a hard time keeping the windshield from icing up on the inside....and I was having a hard time seeing the road. I was going down the dirt road when up ahead there was a bunch of light on the road. As I approached closer I couldn't believe my eyes...there ahead of me, over twice as wide as the road was a six story building moving slowly my way.
As it happened my boss forgot to tell me that the road would be closed to traffic that night. It was no easy task turning that long bus around on that narrow road to avoid being run over by the building.

There was a segment about moving one of those drill rigs on Mega Movers on either The Learning Channel or Science channel ( I think) a while back. They showed some of the problems they had with wheels and axles dropping into holes in the ice, having to jack and crib 'em back up, etc. The logistics of a move like that are interesting, to say the least. All in all, quite a fascinating program showing the way big stuff gets moved and well worth watching.
