Drying out an engine

Drying out an engine was created by STEPHEN
I pulled the dipstick on a tractor yesterday and had water shooting out. Drained the oil/water today, removed the covers & got most of the muck out. I put the heater up there blowing on an deflector board to direct the hot air into the oil pan. After two or three hours it's looking good. I'm going to pull the pickup screen for cleaning and then load the engine with oil tomorrow. I replaced the decrepit valve cover gaskets so I hope that fixes the problem short term.

No wonder that tractor had water in the pan. I see it had barnacles growing on the tracks. You need to tell those operators not to park them in the ocean any more.

Good luck, I hope that oil gets nice and dry and black as coal soon.

Pete.
