Congrats on that one, no doubt it was just doing time in that depot and never surplused out. The best thing is seeing one of these that is literally just about new off the production line. Really funny to see the LeTourneau R7 PCU and early Caterpillar hydraulics, on a '53 tractor, I know someone who has 20,656, also a '53 with some extreme service type track pads, nice U/C etc.

I've got a 4T that had 993 original hours on a working meter when I got it, now has 1015. Similar story, still in gov't possession until about 1970, only had the LeT R7 PCU, no blade, hard nose and 7A blade installed later, operated by the R7 PCU. U/C is in great shape, I don't believe the adjusters have ever been let out or the heads retorqued/valve clearance adjusted per 1000 hour service called for. In contrast, it's parked next to one a little older that must have 10,000 + hours, kind of worn a little, funny to see the differences on wear.

55 hours, now that is the ultimate low hour club, amazing what does turn up out there.

That's downright purdy. .I don't think I've ever seen one that old with all the sheet metal guards on the tracks. Not only that, but they're still straight as is the rest of the critter. .unless you're hiding a dent in the rear or other side:)
