This is the extent of my purchase at the sale.
The motorcycle is a Yamaha xt 250. Bought as a non runner put fuel and spark plug in and soon had it running. Although the idle jet must be blocked as it wont idle. I already have a xt 500. So it will be a perfect partner for it.
Chain saw in fore ground is a Molbilco Matchless. Spinns over with plenty of spark so with some work to the carby it will go. Then a homelite with a post borer attached and a small Mc Culloch. Both these started simply by adding petrol.
Then of course a wheel for a garden ornament to keep things happy when I got home.

Yeah Paul that sounds like a good idea. I will get started on the advertising arrangements. That header is ground drive so pulling it with horses will be ideal. I have 6 horses here some where so I will start training them straight away.

Also there is water flowing down the Darling at the moment so if the water spills into the lake beds at Menindie the planter pictured will be easy to transport in a few years time to start planting some crops there.

Man look at those defective trucks, even have the steering wheel on the wrong side!

Wonder if those dozers don't have the levers and brakes on the wrong side too?

Heh, that's funny Rick. It makes me wonder though what the logic is on placing the controls of the larger machines on "a" side. Experienced operators please chime in here - is it better to have the seat on one side of the dozer so at least you can see one edge and work it according to that, vs. sitting in the middle and not having as good a view of either edge? How do you you manage the edge that you can't see? (I could have this all wrong - I'm a computer guy after all and don't know anything about operations... : )

Cheers,
Neil

Neil I don't know if we are ready for such a deep discussion. Then giving vent to whether right or left is the CORRECT side.

My dozer time is in hundreds of hours, where my hours pulling farm implements is many thousands of hours. This kind of correlates the advancement of crawler tractors they first pulled and then advanced to pushing.

So how far back do we wish to take this? I would assume some teams of oxen and horses would turn easier in one direction than the other that became the direction that was in fashion in the area.

We move up in time and mowing and harvesting machines had the cutter bar put where it was popular in the area of manufacturer. Still could not get agreement on the left right thing.Maybe the self propelled machines ended this? Don't thing so as some put the operator out on one side or the other rather than in the middle.

So thing just evolved in the dozer world to where the left is the common side. On a side note in WW2 Cat would build a right hand control. With war demand California Central Valley farms could get on the list with a priority higher than many for new Cats. But this farm was not getting its new D8 to brake more land. A bug was put in there ear to order a right hand control D8.As they where pulling not a big deal to them and it a showed up as no one else wanted to doze from the wrong side.
