checking after cooler leaks

how do you check a after cooler mainely on the water side, and if it is leaking what will it do ? if ti is leaking thanks

pressurize the cooling system for leak checking, flow test for restriction/scale or perhaps there's a spec on charge air temperature.

depends on how bad the leak is and what configuration the cooler is (above or below the intake runners on the head). Real bad leak/slow leak over time, could bend a rod on startup if there's a cylinder with water in it.
