hydraulic pump question

More
8 years 4 months ago #147156 by Peter C
I am trying to correct the leaks in my blade hydraulics of my 22. The last big leak is in the pump area. I don't have any info on this pump. It leaks in the area of the mount on the front of the radiator tank and at the rear of the tank. I'm guessing there is a seal around the drive shaft that needs replacing. Does anybody have any thoughts on this? Any reference diagram?

Might be best to just get another pump. Surplus center etc has just about any size gear pump you might want.

The only time I tried to fix a leaking gear pump, the bronze bushings on the shaft had enough wear that a new seal wasn't going to last long. That was a gear driven one though, so yours might not be worn much.

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

Disassemble the pump and get the seal number off the part. Worn pump shaft seal area can be repaired using speedy sleeves.

Should not be hard to take apart and look at what you have.I have similar looking pump that had a lip type seal made for the pressure of a hydraulic pump. Local bearing and hydraulic repair shop had it in stock and less than $20 maybe less than 10. Very surprised at how cheap and not having to order it in. My luck is to have the almost cannot find it seal then tell me how cheap at $300 it is.

Okay, thanks for the information. As soon as I find a clean bucket for the fluid, I will remove the pump and try to fix it.
