D-13000 Liner Question

More

Hello; I have a question about the liner hight on the D8-13 A engine. I know the liner hight should be 6 to 8 thousands of an inch. After installing my liners dry [no o rings ] to check the hight I am at .012 and that is using a new seal/shem that the parts book calls for. My question is I don't have any Cat parts numbers for thinner shems. Can someone help? Thanks, Jim

Cat did make a variety of thickness shims so you.ll have to check with a dealer to see what if any you need is available. If you can,t find the needed ones then the next operation is to cut the liner ledges in the block and it takes a boring bar or at Cat we had a special boring tool to do it. Yes the liner height should not be more than .006" to .007" and also put a bar across the liner top and draw down in with a couple studs before checking so it,s seated good in the block.
