I sure hear that Black Sand Beach is the place to go visit. You tube might not allow you to post anything videoed from there!

There is a cat 30 and 60, a buckeye ditcher and a big haul truck at the Alaxender and Baldwin surgar museum in Pu'uene which is just south west of the airport. Can't miss it, just follow the smell. I have some pictures of it on my other computer. It is located near the intersection of Highway 364 (pu'uene ave) & highway 350 (hansen road).

The museum is right across the street from the still operating mill.

Thanks CR,

Going after big fish in the morning, then heading to A&B sugar musuem to check out the 30 & 60. Then to Hawthorne Pacific corp (local Cat dealer) to hook up with two local members, Herman J. & Gas Tractor. I feel we need to have a link on our web site with members names, who want to be listed, so traveling members can hook up with. We can also list cat hot spots and musuems with cat history in the local area. That would be a cool tool.

Yea a list of museums nation wide that have cat equipment would be helpfull.

Wow stopping by the local cat dealer on vacation... how do you do it? The only reason why I was able to stop by the sugar museum was because my wife was writing an article for a west coast peridical at the time...plus I was driving.

Not to much cat stuff, but on the road to hana if you stop by any of the small streams that lead into the ocean and hike up toward the mountain there is a network of ditches, tunnels through mountains, and roman style aquaducts that divert a portion of each stream into a ditch that carries water towards the cane fields. Nothing too exciting, but it is amazing how they were able to build all that deep into steep overgrown areas probally at least 100 years ago, judging by the condition of the concrete.

Sounds like you are having a good time in Maui, I feel this is the best time of the year to go.

What a GREAT DAY. Up at 3:00am catch fish, go to a musuem that had a 60 & a 30, but the best part was going to the loacal Cat dealer and meeting some of our members......and THEN......Herman & Hank.................

Herman was so kid to meet me and take me not only on a tour of the loacal cat dealer, Hawtorne Pacific, then he also took me in his new truck(way to cool of a diesel ram pu) to Hank Tavares's house and shop Maui style, you know, open. Unbelievable on what it was then, to what it is now. The hi light of my trip.
