I was welding on a buddy's roller, and hit on this way to position the roller just by opening the scrap barrel. Put the ground on the brake rotor, and drop the rod butts in the can.

As long as no one dumps any oil in your scrap barrel. Not that I'd ever been a part of any hijinx like that but....I have heard it can happen.

all the rollers i welded up I didn't take the shaft and end blocks off--i made up a water bath so half the roller was in water and it acted as a heat sink
and didn't ruin the seals

and didn't ruin the seals


I turned the roller smooth after welding, and replaced the shaft, seal ring & seal because they had been away from the factory too long.
