Well, scrap steel is at $205 a ton.
I have a set of chains and pads (18 or 20" rings a bell) off my D 8 13A that I want to scrap out. Anyone know what both sides would weigh in at??
I also want to scrap out the under carriage complete with the yoke or what ever you call the big Y shaped part that every thing rides on. Front idler, bottom rollers, top rollers and the Y shaped piece.
Every thing is completely wore out.
What would you guess it weighs????

OK, I did a search and kept taking words out until I found a post on the track weights. Looks like just under 4,000lb a side.
Sorry but I cant remember the name of that big Y piece that the spring rides on and is bolted at 2 spots under the rear winch????
Anyone know what that whole deal would weigh?

Don't have any idea what the track frame weighs but it will be plenty heavy.
Rollers about 200 lbs ea.
Idler about 500 lbs
Carrier rollers about 100 lbs
Rock guards ???

Old Magnet....
I have a JD 500B backhoe. The front loader will barely lift up the track frame assy. It will pick up the chain and pads no problem. They weigh I guess a touch under 4,000lb. So, I am thinking 5,000 for a track frame????
Thanks by the way for telling me what to call it. For the life of me, I couldn't remember. Track frame
DUH!!!

I would guess all of that and maybe more.
Whole bare tractor is somewhere around 36,000 lbs.
Well I don't believe that number.
Next closest spec I have is 47,180 lbs for a bare D8H
One more time...found approx shipping weight for D8-13A @ 37,150 lbs.
