Don't have a manual. Need to go over the newly purchased 212 and top off all the gear and chain boxes. Think I'll buy a 5 gal bucket and see if that gets me started. What weights are used in boxes like the incab controls and the chain drives--just for starters. 140wt?? Thanks LB

I would use gear lube in everything except the engines and pony motor pinion clutch. I think a couple of the gear boxes on the circle etc use grease, but you will find fittings on those.
On ours, I found a significant amount of water contamination in the large blade lift boxes mounted on the front of the cab. Ended up draining those completely. Don't forget the angle box just under the floor that turns the power shaft up to go into the bottom of the blade controls box.
Also notice the oil cup for the clutch release bearing which takes gear oil every day.
The steering box is a common problem area, so you should take the first opportunity to make sure the bearings on the input shaft (worm) are good and don't have excess slack. If there's a bearing loose, the worm will climb the end of the rack and break itself. $$$
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D
