I know that part of my problem is the sub-stations, one is on the south side of Chicago, I think they only have one speed, slow. The other station is about 25 miles from me and still can't get the mail here on time. When they see that it is 3rd class mail it just stays on the dock until they have to move it on. I have the same problem with "The Wisconsin Farmer" and in order to get it here on time I have to pay for 1st class mail. I only do it because it is a weekly paper. We will see what the new year brings.

I know D2Farmer has some mail problems. I spoke to two people I know that worked for the US Postal Service. One works at the post office the Magazine comes through in Peoria. Both told me that the magazines are sent the slowest way possible to save on the shipping. They also told me that if like this time of year the post office gets busy with 1st class mail. These magazines set until they have time to get to them. They did ask if the publisher sent them out in waves. Such as farthest out and overseas first? Because it seems the members on each coast and over seas get there magazine a lot sooner than the members that live less than 3 hours drive from the publisher. With less help and a busier season publications some times set.

tw, they are all mailed the same day from Peoria. The e-mails are flying among board members about this big problem. We may have to have a special meeting shortly to take action on the situation before the next magazine is mailed. The post office is a government monopoly. It extracts more money from customers by not delivering the less expensive class of mail - so we end up paying more, rewarding bad service. Typical of government, isn't it????? GWH

Of course Jeff makes a good point. But even with 3rd class, it should not take a month or more to deliver a magazine. Even if it is across the country. GWH

This is true, I subscribe to 16-18 magazines and periodicals, and none of them take anywhere near this long to get from point A to me.
Even the Midwest Messenger is usually only a week or 10 days in getting from Nebraska to Texas, via the slow mail.
Green Magazine tells its subscribers to wait until the 20th of the month of issue before complaining. The Post Office has NO excuse for handling this publication with a lower priority than a junk mail catalog with a request to deliver it between such and such a date and such and such a date.

Ok time for an update - still not here:( Not only is it not here but my Wis. Farmer, which I do pay 1st Class for is not here. So as you see it does not make any difference - 1st class or 3rd class they can't get it here. This time I was able to be there when the carrier came and do some venting. He answer is call the post office and ask for them to put a watch on it. Big deal I have done that before for the Wis. Farmer, they watch it for a month. I guess I'll see what the New Year will bring.

Happy New Year to one and all!:D

Try filling out an official USPS Customer Complaint Form. I have had good results with this approach. It seems the number of official complaints adversely impacts their annual performance review.

That is why they will not tell you about the form. It is real easy to fill out also.

I have used those and had good luck as well. just ask the counter clerk at the post office. They may have to look for them....just tell'm ok, you'll wait.
