I have a carb that I believe is for the old two ton, however I need some help identifying it for sure. It is a solid brass zenith updraft carb (it is not the type for the 22). It appears the fuel line comes into the bottom of a brass fuel bowl attached to the carb. The top of the bowl is brass, with "ZENITH detroit usa, US Patents dec 29, 08 jun 27, 16 other patents pending" Stamped on the side of the carb is " U5 79123" on one side and "u5" on the other. Please post here or email me at <a href="This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it." target="_blank">This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you can help identify what tractor this carb is for. I will try to post pictures soon!

Someone will correct me if I am wrong but this is what I remember with out having my books in front of me. The early 2-Tons used a Kingston carb. I think that it is a model L? The parts books give the serial number breaks. The later 2-Tons used a Zenith Model T5T carb, the Zenith that I have is cast iron.
Thanks
Ken

Hey Matt, I believe the Holt 2-Tons and the first 438 Cat 2-Tons had the Kingston L3L carburetor. The L3L is a larger carb than the L3. The remaining Cat 2-Tons used the Zenith T5T which on my unit is cast Iron. I'm sure someone will be quick to correct me if I am wrong, but this is the information I have in my parts and service manuals. Later, Dave

Hi Catmatt,
I have an early "Parts Catalogue for Accessories and Supplies" an old hand Partsman gave to me when he retired from the Dealer many years ago.
I can find referance to a "U5" 1 1/4" Zenith carb which looks similar to the one you have pictured.
It comes up with a Caterpillar Part No of 167810 and I have looked through my early Cat stuff and could not find anything that looked like it. As it looks so similar to the 2Ton carby my guess would be the later "5 Ton"--maybe.
I stand to be corrected of course.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
PS the scan is from a poor quality pic in the above Catalogue. I can barely, if at all, read the P/No's from the pic. also.

For those who are interested here are a couple pictures of the carbs that were on the 2-Tons. The rusty [cast iron] one is the Zenith T5T and the brass one is the Kingston L3L. Dave
