I was wondering if anybody knows what could be causing a ringing sort of noise coming from the clutch area of a d4 7u dozer, it makes this noise with the clutch engaged or disengaged.Work done to it so far is a new clutch driven plate and the linkages freed off and the pilot bearing packed with fresh grease, the engine was started with the clutch assembly oot and the noise wasna there but I cant see much wrong with the clutch itself.Any help on the problem would be appreciated thanks.

If it's making the ringing sound all the time I'm thinking something is touching the flywheel. Check to see if all is well with the pony clutch and pinion engagement operation......or starter drive if direct electric start.

too long a bolt threaded into the flywheel area so that it contacts the flywheel or clutch?
Can you rotate the diesel by hand or indirectly by pony flywheel (by hand) and listen for the noise?

Also check to see if there is some misplaced item laying in the bottom of the bell housing that could be rubbing on the flywheel.
