OM,
What is involved in converting the D315 PC chambers to fit. If it's just a matter of turning and threading, maybe that would be the quickest way. Aren't these readily available and cheap too? The regular ones for the D318 are about $25 or less (aftermarket) I believe.

These new style, one piece, non-glowplug type I see for the D318 look like they have plenty of metal to do some modification on the diameter of the threaded end and the top where it seals in the head with the o-ring. How about the height? I assume the D318 would be taller, but is the D315 that much taller than the D311?

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

Hi CC,
As I mentioned earlier, there is no problem getting aftermarket D4/D6 glow plug chambers and the contact Dunefenatic mentioned is a fellow near by that rethreads the nose to fit the D2 head. As for as I recall the rest of the dimensions work and uses the same glow plug. I'm pretty sure that's what will wind up happening.....but some of those suggestions are interesting.

One won't work for sure and that is trying to make a glow plug chamber out of a regular one. Just doesn't have enough meat in the right place to accept boring for the glow plug.

Are these D2 glow plug pre chambers used on electric start conversions? Does anyone have a picture of one they can post here?

Where can I order aftermarket precombustion chambers for glow plugs for a D315/D318? I have the same problem with my 933 11A loader as the others on here and if the new ones that I need to modify that are only $25 I think I might invest some time and see if I can modify those to work in my D311. Also if I can get the aftermarket ones to work I will have a 2 maybe 3 of the original D311 ones for sale. Thanks.

Try Regal corp. (See parts source posting at the top of the board for website address or google it).
I have only ordered a few things from them, I used a credit card, though they have an application type page you have to submit to even use a credit card. If you have part numbers you talk to the order folks, if you need help, there are tech service folks that can look them up for you.

Sorry I don't have anything with a D315 engine so I can't check the number for them.

D318 3H2209 chamber

CC the D315 chamber is the same one as the D318 the 3H2209. Heads are the same except two more cylinders on the D318 head.

mike reh23,
The D6/D4 one piece glow plug chamber number you need is a 1S1970.
Try Regal, Costex or Heavyquip.
The thread is a 1-1/8 dia. 12 tpi. which would need to be changed to a 1" dia. 12 tpi to fit the late D2/11A933. All other dimensions are the same.
