I am trying to find an engine for my D4 7u and would like to know if a Cat 4 cylinder diesel with a 3U serial number is the same engine?

That would be the engine in a 112 grader & is the basic D315 engine, same as the D4 7U but there will have to be some things changed probably from one to the other so it is compatable like possibly some of the gov. linkage etc. so I don,t have a grader book to check just what you,ll need to swap from the tractor engine to the grader engine so it will work in the D4 tractor.I,m not even sure but you may have to swap the oil pans around too but again not sure till you take a look at it & maybe the oil pump setup too. Again I,m not sure but take a look at the bell housing & the flywheel too so may have to be swapped aound too.
