I have noticed an old crawler sitting in the weeds for years. I finally stopped and looked it over. A Cat D9 Serial # 19A1721 Series D. Has 12775 Hrs on the meter. It has a cable control blade on the front, and a hydraulic ripper on the back. Kelly Ripper Model RC9B Serial #1003. Was wondering what year it was built and if it is rare. Any idea how much it would weigh? It looks complete. The owner said he parked it and hasn't run it in ten years or so. The stack is covered. This might be my next project after I complete restoring my TEN !! Mark

The 19A came out in 1955 so it would be a year or so newer I,d guess. They were a torque convertor drive with a dry clutch & regular more compact gear trans. where the 18A at the same time was an oil clutch with with a different big reg. gear trans.I don,t have any weight specs. on it but they are heavy esp. equipped the way it is. We sold lots of new ones here in my area back then & were used in the coal strippings & also the interstates were being built then through here so many were sold to the contractors back then. The dry clutch was just a little problem but not major as I remember.
