Chris here from Nova Scotia.
I dont have a Cat yet but im hoping to correct that soon.
Ive been looking at an old planer to use with my sawmill and it possibly comes with a 4 cylinder power unit.
it has a 24 volt starter on it and a 2 speed gear box with some sort of clutch arrangement.
The man that owns it has lived and breathed Cat all his life.
He even has a cat grader from the early 30s.
My question is what should i look for when considering the purchase of this engine.
it is presently apart and in good shape so im told.
comes with gasket set but may need a set of rings.
i would probably put in bearings if available.
Im assuming that serial numbers and pics would be good to start.
any other help you might suggest would help me a lot.
