From what I understand "Government users" can get close enough to read your license plate numbers and what you have on your plate for Bar-B-Que.

There are commercial satelites up in space. I would think that's where Google Earth gets their images. You want the good stuff, you pay for it.
I suspect it would take an Act of Congress or Presidential decree to get any information or pictures from a Keyhole satelite.
Of course, the Soviets are selling just about anything!

A consultant told me that we can buy all the aerial photos we need from the soviets and I bet the resolution is good.
. so dont go whack off behind the D8 you might be the next porn star or sumptin!!

Google has a contract with NASA at NASA Ames research Center in Mountain View, Ca. They recently were awarded the rights to use the old Moffet Naval Air Station (now NASA Ames) for their corporate Boeing 767 for "research" purposes. And yes, they can check for "fleas on fluffy" at a much faster rate than the public has access to.
