Was a pretty good rig for $1000. Have not bought yet---just checking into a few things. Only problem owner of 35 yrs reported was the generator went bad so he removed the drive gear and just parked it on a hill behind the house to let it roll start. Even has the manual. After setting 4 yrs the brakes pumped up with about 5 or 6 strokes. Man used it to build sub division roads on property he owned.
I never did know exact how the controls work. Are there small clutches inside the control box under the steer wheel? How it all work and does it give much trouble?
Thanks for info----LB

The controls are not really clutches but have jaws that engage when the lever is moved. With a regular friction clutch one engages it slowly but never do that with the controls on the older Cat graders. Push or pull the levers quickly and hold them firmly so they do not kick out on you. The controls on the Cat graders are called "knuckle busters" for a reason.
They will kick out quite violently if you try to go past a stop or do not apply firm pressure. They are really pretty simple and not much trouble as long as you keep the gearbox full of oil. You can operate any of them at the same time. The main shaft is driven right off the main engine and the controls operate any time the engine is running. On the older 112's and 212's you will appreciate an electric grease gun with all the zerks that need lube.
