How many feet of cable for N0. 24 Cable Control?

I have a D6 9U with a No. 24 front single drum ccu. How many feet will I need for a typical situation with the blade on the ground and four wraps on the drum? The manual says the drum will hold a maximum of 75 feet but I don't think thats a normal setup. I could take the old cable out and measure it but I'd rather wait until I need to. I'd like to have a new cable on hand. Thanks for any help. Rick

The four part line with #24 uses 40 ft. of cable,
The six part line with #24 uses 52 ft. of cable.

Hi D6Rick,

Small world, do you know Mike O'Neel down there in the big city of Ord? He's a 70 something fiddle player, really nice guy. John

I use 9/16" LINE LAID cable. It's not quite as strong as regular but strong enough on my D7. It is a lot easier to thread onto the sheaves and drum because it is more flexible, and less prone to strand breakage and "whiskers" for the same reason. I'd say get it if you can find it.

You can identify it easily: The twist of each strand is the same direction as the twist of the rope.
