See the announcement in the Wanted/For Sale portion of this site. I bring it up here because I think it interesting to see any undercarriage parts reproduced and for sale, especially of early machines. Great for those of us who like to see correctly restored tractors. GWH

Hello; Has Mr. Zimmerman mentioned a possibility of building under carrige parts for any of the small Cats in the not too distant future?

mgood, no he has not. I was surprised when I learned he had reproduced the Best 60 pads. If there is good money to be made, he or someone else will do it. Unfortunately, Cat won't, for if they would, it would have been done already. The big question is whether or not there is enough of a market to justify the investment. Apparently, companies like Berco don't think there is. Perhaps the only way to get them made is a bunch of guys with a need get together, plunk down hard money, and approach someone like Zimmerman with a request and order for X number of whatever.

BTW, someone inside Cat told me that the undercarriage parts for the D2s are still available from Cat, but that dealers are unaware of that and also dealers don't know how to order the parts. The D3 chains are a slightly different pitch from the D2, will work on worn sprockets, etc. I don't know any more than this.
