More

Hi Team,
there was some discussion recently on the correct torque for horizontal pony flywheel retaining nuts, this article from a Serv. Mag. 14 August 1953 covers Mag. Shaft breakage due to a loose flywheel and goes on to give a recommended torque for the retaining nut.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Hi edb,
Good piece of obscure information.........thanks for posting.
Along with that is an old service letter (little tough to read) describing the acknowledged fact that there could be manufacturing tolerance interference resulting in broken shafts and gears.

Another thing to watch is the mag coupling nut on the end of the mag shaft. Saw one get loose and force the mag drive gear back and break the casting that holds the drive gear support bushing.
