D6 9U with electric pony start, guts ripped out of starter, like a run over possum. I wanted that starter in the worst way, but the dude running the jaws of death had his way with the whole machine.
The pony carb was in one piece, like a quarter laying on the sidewalk, but glued in place.
Then, a guy backed in with a T-20 I-H, that had seen better days. I figured, an appropriate end for it.
The 9U didn't look that bad at that point, someone could have used the parts. Iron is up, for sure.
I got $122 for a Hyster s-25 counterweight today.

On the History Channel the other night, on the program "Modern Marvels" they were showing junk yards and crushers, etc., and showed some old Cats being destroyed for scrap. Kinda hard to watch that destruction. GWH

I talked to an employee at a scrap yard in Klamath Falls Or. and he said that he rembered a large Best tractor with a wheel out in front that they picked up and dropped several times until most of the cast broke up,(probably a 75 or 90) RT

GWH,
I think I watched that episode. All I could do was cringe and almost cry. Some of those tractors did not look that bad. If nothing else they would have been good parts donors.

I went to a Parts (junk) yard last weekend to Not find the PV15 I was looking for. It was gone as well as many other machines that were around it. Should have got the stuff last trip while it was there, Bummer

whilst I'm all for preservation and spare parts; imagine if you worked in that yard and tried to save everything that came thru..pretty soon you'd be buried in stuff, and out of a job. Most of the time it's been already picked over (finals, hydraulics, turbos, etc) & stripped when I see it,and just too beat up to even do much with other else than cut it.
