Need clearance, Cat 10 rebuild, rod & mains

My engine guy is asking what kind of clearance I want my rebuilt Cat 10 engine to have for the Rod and Main Bearings, We were thinking .004 is this Correct?

I don,t have any specs. on your engine but starting engines in the sheet I have shows the rods to be about the minimum what you listed & mains a couple thousands more (.006") minimum. I,m sure someone on here would have the correct specs.in a book but the ones I gave is a general clearance to go by.

Hi Steve,
my 10 Tractor Serviceman's Book tells me clearance for both the main and bigend is 0.003". The Pony engine equivalent half of a 10 tractor engine, as SJ pointed out, is 0.002"-- 0.004"" for the bigends, and 0.005"--0.0085" for the mains.
I feel your reco man's thought of 0.004" for both main and bigend is a good compromise and what I would aim for if it were my machine.
I feel the pony main clearance is opened up to accomadate the 2850 high idle RPM of the pony against the 1500 RPM of the 10 Tractor engine.
