SteveA, your possible scraper is same-same as mine. Get it and think of the nifty tandem hookup we could make. Does your friend have manuals?

I agree with Craneman about the Laplant Choate scraper ID, ours has the same front end construction details
acmoc.phpwebhosting.com/viewtopic.php?t=...t=laplant+choate+pan
.
It has about a 6 foot cutting edge with a frost bit in the center third. Ours has always been useful and all, nice thing to have around, but sort of slow loading etc, a lot of wheel spin with a 5020 or even a 6030 tractor. I have recently been pulling it with a JD 4955 with front wheel assist/power shift transmission. Man! what a difference plenty of power and traction makes. It'll load in about 20 yards at 5mph, don't even have to downshift.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D
