I ran across this 6U series orchard model D4 which I found interesting because (other that it's an old yellow CAT) the tractor number is 6U45. Both tags match, the one on the engine and the one on the rear of the tractor. I know 6U is the series, but is this the 45th 6U that rolled of the line? Are orchard models numbered differently than regular top seat models?
Best,

I never saw or heard of any other SNs for them but look & see if after the SN if there is an SP (Special Parts) shown there. Cat did use those letters if something was different from the regular run of the mill but usually was transmission parts etc.so yours might be just listed as a rear seat arrangement for the orchard model in the parts book.

There is no difference between regular production tractor serial numbers for the series and tail seat models. The tail seat units were constructed using "attachments" to the regular series. That is a pretty low serial number:D
