Lots of good pics there Jim, thanks for posting. That is quite a pic of the TD-24. Not many of those around and that was the first piece of heavy equipment that I remember being up close to when I was a little kid. They were building a dam in SW NE at the time and to a young whelp, the TD-24 looked bigger than a house.

I enjoyed seeing it too, problem was being an IHC it only made one pass before it broke down. Don't know what it was, but it made a terrible grinding kind of noise and they parked it. Hope it wasn't too serious.

Not surprised the old TD24 made a grinding sound they couldn’t stand the test of time. I ran one years ago with a foot clutch pulling a cat 80 scraper, talk about a work out.
I would hope the repair not to much…it’s a nice looking setup.

Looks to me that they got the comunity to help start the dirt work. I havent heard of that in a long time. Sure would be interesting if they got the comunity involved in a project insead of asking for money.

Thanks for the info Paul, it sounded like it was coming from up front. Just couldn't resist taking a cheap shot at an IHC. In all honesty, my Sixty died a couple times as well, but it did restart thankfully.

Jim,
That’s not so much of cheap shoot at IH, they brought most of there TD24 problems on there self. In there haste to get the TD 24 in the construction market they failed to have sufficient field testing on the new steering system which was not mechanically sound under job conditions and the Warranty cost were very high. The same thing happened with the TD30 and it was later withdrawn for the market.
