Concerning some of the above posts; Can fuel get through the transfer pump drive into the housing under the filter tower. I have everything apart and besides the O ring mentioned I am trying to figure out if there are other ways for fuel to get into engine oil. Again, thanks very much in advance for any information.

Yes there are two odd shaped packing seals that seal the fuel from going up by the shaft that drives things in the pump. There are retainers to support the packing seals & a spring between them. The pump will have to be taken apart to get them out.I don,t have an RD4 book but the 7J pump takes 2 4B9051 & you,ll need a gasket for the base along with the "O" ring seal for the outlet up into the filter base. The gasket is 4B5098 & the seal is 2A3314 but if I recall the RD4 uses the same type pump.

Does anyone happen to know if the gaskets between the housings are still available. If so what are the part numbers. My dealer seems to think they are no longer available mainly because we cannot find them in his books or microfiche. Gaskets that go in between injector pump housing and the tower housing. Thanks in advance!!

LMM,, dont know for sure, but you should have the numbers in those pages..
I just made my gaskets from material from napa,, easy..
The two special seals SJ is talking about are available, and about $4 each. Be very careful handling them, as they are lead coated material, and will unravel and/or dent easily.... not telling how I know..
if you pump has 1 seal = 2A831 , if 2 seals then 2 4B9051 . the rubber oring seal for the ferrule is 2A3314 for either one..
