Hi, Folks.
The next meeting of the newly-formed Chapter 18 will be held at the Theiss residence, 81 Pinelands Road, Sunnybank, Queensland, on Saturday, September 14. The current plot is to start the meeting itself at around 11.00 AM but it is suggested that it would be good to arrive a little early, perhaps around 10.30 AM, and have some time to meet and greet people and maybe enjoy tea or coffee before the meeting starts.

After the chapter meeting is over, the 'GOOD' stuff will start with lunch and then an inspection of the Theiss collection of restored Cats. I have been assured that this collection, while not HUGE, is notable for the quality of the restorations and the presentation. I have been told that there are also some items that the Theiss company has used in some of its contracting work over the years.

All those planning on attending are advised to bring their own eats and drinks as there are no catering facilities at this venue and, if you wish to sit down during the meeting and/or lunch, a chair would be a good idea. If anybody can bring a folding table - or two - for the meeting and for lunch use, that would be both helpful and appreciated. If someone could bring an electric urn to supply hot water for tea or coffee, that would likewise be both helpful and appreciated.

Any intending new members are advised that they must be a paid-up member of ACMOC in order to be eligible for Chapter membership.

Whether or not the actual items are there on display, there will be a list of ACMOC merchandise that can be purchased through the chapter, which will help with funds to run the chapter.

Items on the meeting agenda for discussion include chapter membership fees, chapter insurance, constitution and banking details. Other items may also come up.

Anybody with even a tinge of yellow in their blood is cordially invited to attend. Likewise, all those who would like a yellow blood transfusion.

CATchyalater.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Hi Gavin ,I did not attend ,But a member of my facebook group did and posted a video of Berts Cat 60 being started .
Unfortunately the video was not a You tube Link ,so I can't link it here to the forum .
I know Lance is yet to master the act of photo posting here on the forum ,so i guess we got to wait for the publicity officer to make time to feed the hunger for photos of this .
But maybe they are saving the photos and story to kick off the Chapter report in the next magazine with a bang .

Hi Folk , Yes to Gavin and Ian , meeting went very well , About 30 members and visitors [including 3 from Victoria ], and am sure ACMOC will finish with several new members .great to see the Thiess collection again . Ian Fordyce started the Sixty up with a Bang , It has been fitted with a Electric Starter! so Ian started it by both Electric and the original Bar. Very interesting for those who have not seen a Sixty started .He also tried to fire up the 5 Ton Holt ,but it would not co-operate . There is only a handful of 5 tons in Australia. Two of Thiess's early D'8's are there , including the one with a Massive Rotary hoe Mounted on it.
Our Chapter 18 Banner was Proudly displayed for all to see .
The Thiess Bros were really one the Foremost Contractor's in Australia , started I understand Contracting Threshing of Corn around the Toowoomba area, 2 of their Threshing Machines are in the Display . They moved into earthmoving and the rest is History ,I am hoping to Get a Story together based on the Book "The Thiess Story ' and Submit it to the Magazine . I am still trying locate a Copy . I had one But have Mislaid it or Loaned it to someone in the last 25 years !
You are correct Ianoz about Photos , I will jump the hurdle one day, But Deas Plant took plenty so I think they will be up soon .
Weekend of 28-29 of Sept is First Meeting for Chapter 19 at Corryong [Victoria ] and 3 of us are Flying Down from Qld for the weekend . Neil Clydesdale [Wombat] is hoping for at least 40 odd Cats on Display . Should make for a great Weekend . LJ

Thanks Ianoz for posting that Video , Ian had that running nice once they sorted the fuel problems out . Thiess's had also fitted electric start to this unit which worked very well of course . Ian wasn't so lucky getting the 5 ton going , It wouldn't Cooperate ! Thanks again Ianoz LJ
